FRIENDS OF SSES UPDATE
Early Learning Center and Light Upgrades
In 2006, the Friends of SSES was formed to support St. Saviour Elementary School through the organized support of our alumni. The first item in the agendas was the creation and implementation of a library media enter project. Through funds raised by two dinner dances, the project proceeded and on Friday June 19, 2009, construction began and was completed by the end of the summer for the opening of school. From this success, we have been in continual contact with our new principal, Maura Lorenzen on ideas she may be looking at.
As we now look to refurbish our treasury from our library outflow, two ideas were presented to Friends: a creation of a nursery for three-year-olds and the modernization of lights within the school.
1: The lights in the hallways, landings, and stairway have been replaced, bringing more light to the whole buidlng, no longer dark and dingy. We will hope to do this to classrooms in the future.
2: Three-year old program; the new principal, with twenty years of experience in this area, has championed this idea. The room which holds these young students is located next to our library complex. The capacity is now at 15 students.
Both of these projects were started and completed through the summer of 2010. These projects help bring the school into the 21st century. We will look for other projects to work with the school. Continued fund raising for future projects will continue.
We would like to start a yearly campaign which would be directed to our alumnae.

LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER
The Friends of St. Saviour Elementary School continues their work on improving our elementary school. Our goal was and is to update and refurbish the school library with monies we have raised from various events. With the expert help of Manny Candiano, we have engaged a contractor, Eduardo Ossio to proceed with the rejuvenation of our library.
